How to report and search for a missing pet in Nepal
A useful missing pet report helps neighbors recognize the animal and understand where and when to look. Nepal Pets publishes the report as a listing; it does not operate a search team or guarantee a reunion. Combine the online report with local enquiries and careful follow-up.
Report a missing petRecord the last confirmed location
Write down when and where the pet was last seen. Use the province, district, municipality, ward or tole, and a nearby landmark where known. Distinguish the last confirmed sighting from later, unverified reports.
Choose a recent, clear photo and describe the pet's species, color, size, collar, and distinctive features. Include the name if known. Avoid guessing at details that you cannot confirm.
Create and share one clear report
Choose Missing on the Nepal Pets listing form, add the last seen date and location, upload a photo, and choose contact information you are comfortable sharing. Keep the listing link so updates can refer to the same report.
Share the link with neighbors, local ward or tole groups, community Facebook groups, nearby veterinary clinics, and animal welfare organizations. Ask permission before putting up posters on private property. Include the report link or a clear contact method so people can follow up.
Keep sightings organized
Ask anyone reporting a sighting for the time, exact location, direction of travel, and a photo if they can obtain one safely. Record these separately from confirmed sightings rather than replacing the original location with an uncertain report.
Do not encourage people to chase or corner a frightened animal. Seek help from someone experienced in handling animals if the situation is unsafe. Check found pet reports as well as your own missing report.
Verify messages and close the report
If someone says they have your pet, ask for current evidence and compare identifying details. Be cautious about urgent demands for money or messages that provide no verifiable information. Arrange any handover with personal safety in mind.
After a reunion, contact Nepal Pets to request a Reunited update and tell the local groups where you shared the report. Updating the status prevents old alerts from circulating as if the pet were still missing.
