How to adopt a pet through Nepal Pets
Nepal Pets connects people through listings; it does not operate a shelter or keep the animals shown on the website. Adoption arrangements are made directly with each owner or caretaker. Start with a current listing, then confirm the details before travelling or committing.
Browse pets for adoptionFind a listing that fits your household
Use the adoption page to filter by species and location. A district or municipality is a starting point, not a precise meeting location. Ask for the ward, tole or neighborhood, and a recognizable landmark when discussing a visit.
Consider your daily schedule, available space, other animals, family members, and any landlord restrictions. Plan for food, transport, veterinary care, and ongoing costs; a free listing does not mean caring for a pet will be free.
Contact the person responsible for the pet
Open the pet's page and use its available contact options. Ask whether the pet is still available, where it currently lives, and why it needs a new home. Ask about age, temperament, routine, and any known needs.
Ask what the listing's vaccination and spay or neuter information is based on. Unknown means the information has not been supplied; it does not mean yes. Request available records and consult a veterinarian about care questions.
Agree on the process before travelling
Confirm who will meet you, the exact location, and what both sides expect. Discuss any adoption requirements, costs, and transport arrangements in advance. Nepal Pets does not supply an adoption counselor or guarantee a uniform process for every listing.
Avoid sending money simply to reserve a pet based on an unverified message. If details change or someone pressures you, pause and ask for clarification. A listing or social media profile alone does not verify a person's identity.
Prepare for the handover and settling in
Arrange suitable transport and a calm, secure space at home. Ask the caretaker about the pet's usual food, schedule, handling preferences, and belongings that may help it settle. Discuss introductions to other household animals with a qualified professional if you need guidance.
Once adoption is complete, contact Nepal Pets through the contact page to request that the listing be marked Adopted. This closes its availability and helps other people focus on pets still seeking homes.
